From New Zealand to England to Florida: A Realtor Who Truly Gets Relocation
Recently, I was surprised to see my name featured in USA Today as LPT Realty's top-performing agent in my ZIP code. I was honored by the recognition, but what struck me most was the timing.
That recognition came from a market where I spent only 6 months of the year before relocating with my family from Kansas to Florida. My husband retired after serving 20 years in the Airforce and we decided to start over again :)
And that's when I realized something - My story isn't really about awards - It's about relocation.
Over the years, I've relocated multiple times. I left New Zealand and moved to England. I left England, my business and friends and moved to the United States as an Air Force spouse. I built a life, community, and business in Kansas. Then we packed up once again and moved to Florida.
Every move required me to leave something familiar behind and build something new.
Moving Is Easy - Starting Over Is Hard.
People often think the hardest part of relocation is packing boxes, finding movers, or signing paperwork.
In my experience, those are just logistics. The real challenge is everything that comes afterward.
It's learning a new community, finding your favorite coffee shop, meeting new friends, learning new roads. On top of everything you need to understand while looking for somewhere to live - local insurance requirement, flood zones, learning which neighborhoods fit your lifestyle. It's creating a sense of home when everything around you feel unfamiliar.
Why This Makes Me A Better Relocation Realtor
Because I've lived it - Not once, but Multiple times.
I know what it's like to be excited and terrified at the same time.
I know what it's like to question whether you're making the right decision.
I know what it's like to wonder if you'll ever feel settled again.
And I know how important it is to have someone you trust guiding you through the process.
That's why I don't see my role as simply helping clients buy or sell a home.
I help people navigate change. Yes the house is important, but so is the community, the lifestyle, the support system, and the confidence that you're making the right move.
The Recognition Means More Because Of The Journey
Seeing my name in USA Today was an incredible honor, but what I'm most proud of isn't the recognition itself.
I'm proud that every chapter of my journey - from New Zealand to England, England to America, Kansas to Florida.. has helped me better understand the people I serve.
Because every relocation comes with a story and helping people write their next chapter is why I love what I do.
